Down a set and 1–4, Djokovic was able to rally and win 1–6, 7–5, 6–4, 6–7, 12–10. The match last five hours and ended after 2:45 a.m. in Melbourne. "I was just trying to hang in there, trying to fight," Djokovic said. Roger Federer and Andy Murray are still in the hunt for the grand slam.
