France’s Parliament on Friday approved gay marriage, putting it on track to be legal by this summer—despite that the country remains divided over the issue. French President François Hollande has already promised to sign the legislation. The country has been in somewhat of a crisis over the issue: the Roman Catholic Church has led fierce opposition to gay marriage, and many French people are against adoption by gay couples, which would be allowed under the new legislation.
