Before the Boston manhunt, a rogue former LAPD officer on a deadly shooting spree and subsequent hunt captured the nation's attention. Now, a review by the Los Angeles Police Department shows that Christopher Dorner was justifiably discharged from the force back in 2008—a firing he wrote was unfair and racist. In retaliation, Dorner killed four people, including two police officers, and later died from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot during a police shootout. “His discharge was based on his own actions. The allegations he made against his training officer appeared to have been made in an effort to forward his own agenda,” said LAPD Special Assistant Gerald Chaleff.
