Susan Boyle was diagnosed last year with Asperger’s Syndrome, a form of autism, she told Britain’s Observer on Sunday. “I have always know I have had an unfair label put upon me,” she said. Articles about her after her meteoritic rise on Britain’s Got Talent—and her lovely rendition of “I Dreamed a Dream”—often referred to her as having “learning difficulties,” but she rejects that phrase, and she said the specialist discovered she has a higher-than-average IQ. “I am not strong on my own,” Boyle said. “When I have the support of people around me, I am fine.” She called the diagnosis a “relief.” “It’s a condition that I have to live with and work through, but I feel more relaxed about myself,” she said.
