The first commercial flight between the U.S. and Cuba in 50 years landed in Havana on Monday. The nine-passenger aircraft departed from Key West International Airport at 10 a.m. “This is just a test run,” said Key West International Airport director Peter Horton. “Whether this is going to come and be a regular service I don't believe has been determined yet.” Cuba is only 90 miles from Key West—closer than Miami—but Key West International Airport is currently only approved to fly 10 passengers at a time to Cuba.
