Thousands may be without power for days in the South thanks to a brutal snow storm pounding the region. 3,300 flights have been canceled. Ice combined with wind gusts of 30 mph snapped power lines, leaving hudnreds of thousands without electricity. Charlotte, N.C. could get up to a foot of snow. North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory said, ‘‘Stay smart. Don’t put your stupid hat on at this point in time. Protect yourself. Protect your family. Protect your neighbors.’’
