Two journalists for the Associated Press were shot by an Afghan police officer on Friday while in their car. Anja Niedringhas, 48, a German photographer, died instantly, according to an eyewitness. Reporter Kathy Gannon, 60, was hit twice and is now in a stable condition. According to another journalist on the scene, the two were traveling in an election convoy that was being guarded by the Afghan National Army and Afghan police. A unit commander then walked up to the car, shouted "Allahu Akbar" and began shooting them in the back seat with an AK-47. The shooter has been arrested.
