The Department of Veterans Affairs is under fire from President Obama, who is apparently “madder than hell” over allegations that its medical facilities have hidden waiting lists that prevent veterans from getting care before it’s too late. “Nobody is more outraged about this problem right now, Major, than the president of the United States,” Chief of Staff Denis McDonough told Major Garrett on CBS’s Face the Nation Sunday. He pledged that the White House has “deployed additional staff over to the Veterans Administration to dig into this, to find out if this is a series of isolated cases or whether this is a systemic issue that we need to address with wholesale reform.”
