Roughly 125 people were injured and at least 19 killed Wednesday morning when Israeli shells hit a UN-run school in a Gaza refugee camp, the UN says. According to the director of the UNRWA in Gaza, roughly 3,000 Palestinians were taking refuge at the school. “There were five shells—Israeli tank shells—which struck the people and killed many of them as they slept. Those people came to the school because it is a designated UN shelter,” he said. The agency says it is at its “breaking point” with more than 200,000 Palestinians seeking shelter in its buildings after Israel issued a call for civilians to evacuate neighborhoods. Just last week, 15 Palestinians were killed and 200 injured in another strike on a UN school.
