According to the government of Estonia, an official from the Internal Security Service was “abducted at gunpoint at Luhamaa border checkpoint this morning” and taken to Russia. “The incident comes two days after a visit to Estonia by U.S. President Barack Obama and in the middle of NATO’s summit in Wales,” the statement added. It is not known what the Estonian officer was doing at the border. Estonian Prime Minister Taavi Rõivas called the kidnapping a serious crime “unacceptable to any Estonian.”
