A new report based on a yearlong investigation by the Senate Armed Services Committee found that hackers associated with the Chinese government have repeatedly broken into the systems of U.S. technology companies, U.S. airlines, and other defense contractors that are involved in U.S. troop movements and military equipment. Even more startling, the committee found that the military’s U.S. Transportation Command only knew about two out of at least 20 break-ins from a single year. “These peacetime intrusions into the networks of key defense contractors are more evidence of China’s aggressive actions in cyberspace,” said Sen. Carl Levin (D-MI), the committee’s chairman.
