Some people just don’t learn their lesson. Former Connecticut Governor John Rowland has been found guilty on seven counts of federal conspiracy charges, according to a ruling Friday afternoon. The former governor hid his involvement in the 2012 congressional campaign of Lisa Wilson-Foley, who paid him $35,000, by receiving funds through Wilson-Foley’s husband’s nursing-home business in order to avoid campaign-disclosure laws. In addition to one count conspiracy, Rowland was charged with two counts of falsifying records in federal investigation, two charges of causing false statements and two counts of illegal campaign contributions. The verdict marks the second time Rowland, who plead guilty to similar charges in 2004, has been convicted of conspiracy.
