The condition of the first Ebola patient diagnosed in the United States, Thomas Eric Duncan, is only getting worse. Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital said on Saturday that Duncan is now in critical condition, whereas before his condition was only “serious.” His family, who had been isolated in the Dallas apartment where Duncan had been staying, were moved to a private residence in a gated community while a hazardous-materials crew decontaminated the apartment on Friday. Public-health officials also cut down the number of people being monitored for Ebola symptoms by half. Meanwhile, the freelance NBC cameraman who became infected with Ebola while working in Liberia is being flown back to the United States for treatment.
