Kevin Durant Benched by Foot Fracture

The Oklahoma City Thunder announced on Sunday that NBA star Kevin Durant has a fracture in his right foot. He is expected to be benched for the next six to eight weeks. That means Durant will likely be unable to play for at least the first month of the NBA season, which begins October 28. The team said Durant has a “Jones fracture,” which is a broken bone at the base of his small toe. General manager Sam Presti said no specific incident cause the Jones fracture, but that it occurred over time. Durant is the reigning NBA MVP and averaged 32 points a game during the past season. There were signs of wear and tear on Durant earlier this summer when he withdrew from playing for USA Basketball in the World Cup.
