Former Massachusetts Governor and 2012 Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney joked on Friday to a crowd at a dinner party about “speculation” that he will try running again in 2016. “There’s some speculation about whether I’m about to embark [on a campaign]…Let me state unequivocally that I have no intention of running for U.S. senator of Massachusetts,” he joked, before essentially laying out a campaign platform. There are “three principles I think should form part of the foundation” of a presidential bid, he said: “First we have to make the world safer. Second, we have to make sure and provide opportunity for all Americans regardless of the neighborhood they live in. And finally, we have to lift people out of poverty.”
