Mohamedou Ould Slahi is finally getting to tell his story. After being held at the military prison at Guantanamo Bay for 12 years without a trial, a diary describing his torture is being published globally. In it he details his treatment, including being raped by two female American soldiers. Slahi claims he was forced to take part in a threesome in order to give up information. “Today, we’re gonna teach you about great American sex,” one soldier said, according to Slahi. The prisoner claimed he was innocent for years, until, according to him, the torture made him reconsider and he began to fabricate information. In 2010, a U.S. District Court judge found no evidence of his guilt or of his support for the perpetrators of the 9/11 attacks and ordered his release. However, the U.S. government appealed the decision and it is pending in a U.S. District Court.
