Monday’s drone crash in a White House tree has caused the craft’s manufacturer, Chinese firm DJI, to deactivate all of its flyers in the D.C. area. The GPS system inside a drone can gauge its location and determine functionality, a feature already used to track devices close to airports. The errant drone pilot, an employee in the U.S. government’s satellite-snooping agency, said he had been drinking when he lost the drone.
