2 White House Break-In Tries in 12 Hours

BUSY NIGHT

Separate incidents and arrests.

In less than 12 hours, there were two separate attempts to penetrate the White House grounds. In the first incident, at around 11:30 p.m. Sunday, a man was arrested after he climbed over a bicycle rack and tried to access White House grounds. At around 6:45 a.m. Monday, another man tried to get into the White House by walking through a door into a construction site at Pennsylvania Avenue and East Executive Avenue. He got into a brief fight with an officer before he was arrested. The incidents follow a year filled with scandals for the Secret Service that led to the resignation of director Julia Pierson and a department shakeup.
