Militants killed at least 17 people near Egypt’s Israel-Gaza border Thursday, with most of the dead from the ranks of Egypt’s military. The attack took place near the town of Sheikh Zuweid, in an area where authorities have been locked in a fierce battle with extremist groups. Egypt’s Sinai insurgency was known as Ansar Beit al-Maqdis, or Supporters of the Holy House, until the group pledged allegiance to ISIS and changed its name to Sinai Province in November 2014.
