An Associated Press investigation has found that U.S. airports’ perimeters have been breached 268 times since 2004, by intruders crashing cars through the gates, slipping past security guards, or jumping fences. According to airport officials, none of the breaches involved terrorists. But the most egregious examples include a man who hopped the fence at Los Angeles International Airport eight times in less than a year and a man on the run hiding inside an empty plane after stabbing a plumber.
