NBA uniforms will soon feature Nike’s signature swoosh. The NBA announced Wednesday that Nike will become the first company to have its logo appear on uniforms after the brand locked in an eight-year deal to become the official on-court apparel provider, beginning in the 2017-18 season. The NBA previously did not allow Adidas, which held the rights before Nike, to put its logo on players’ jerseys. NBA executives were reportedly unhappy with Adidas, while basketball players including LeBron James had criticized its sleeved jerseys. Nike is also the official jersey provider for the NFL, which it signed a five-year contract with in 2012. The Nike logo is also seen on MLB players’ undershirts, but the league’s uniforms are made by Majestic.
