Riot police in Istanbul shot teargas and rubber pellets to break up thousands of participants in the Gay Pride parade. The police also used a water canon. The police reportedly took action when members of the parade began shouting slogans against the socially conservative President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and accusing him of fascism.
