Russian President Vladimir Putin thinks embattled FIFA President Sepp Blatter deserves a Nobel Prize for his work. In an interview aired on Monday by the Swiss broadcaster RTS, Putin said, "I think people like Mr. Blatter, the leaders of international sports federations or Olympic committees, deserve special recognition. If anyone deserves the Nobel Prize, those people do." Putin's comments come two days after he and Blatter appeared in St. Petersburg for the preliminary draw for the 2018 World Cup, and amid a widespread corruption scandal that's led to the indictment of 14 soccer officials and businessmen.
