The Pew Research Center conducted a survey determining how teenagers break up, determining how acceptable certain methods are. Presented with six different options, telling someone in person was viewed as the most acceptable while social-media breakups were generally the worst. Sending a text message as a means of breaking up received an average score of 3.4 out of 10 on an acceptability scale. Changing one’s social media status to single earned a measly 2.7
