Myanmar opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi told the BBC on Tuesday that Sunday’s national elections were “not free but fair.” Suu Kyi’s National League for Democracy is expected to win the most parliamentary seats, but she is barred from the presidency. The comments come as the NLD accused the government election panel of intentionally delaying results appearing to show it winning in a landslide victory to “maybe play a trick.” NLD spokesman Win Htien told reporters it didn’t make sense to release the “result little piece by piece.” The election commission has released results for only about 50 seats in the 664-member parliament, while the NLD claims it won 154 of the 164 seats in four states. Official results show the NLD won 11 of the 15 seats in four regional parliaments.
