Spain’s governing conservative party lost its majority of parliamentary seats in the general election on Sunday, according to preliminary results. Though the center-right Popular Party (PP) captured the most votes with 123 seats, Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy’s party must now try to form a coalition. With almost all the votes counted, the PP had 123 seats, the Socialists 90 and the anti-austerity Podemos party won 69. The liberal Ciudadanos party captured 40 seats. The PP needed 176 seats to form a majority.
