A federal judge effectively blocked a UFC fight at New York City's Madison Square Garden, ruling Monday in favor of the state's ban on mixed martial arts. Ultimate Fighting Championship had requested an injunction against New York's attorney general enforcing the anti-MMA law, to allow a planned April 23 fight to take place at the famed arena. New York banned the violent sport in 1997, and remains the only state to have such a law on the books.
