A California doctor was sentenced to 30 years in prison on murder charges Friday in connection with three overdose deaths from medication she prescribed. Hsiu-Ying "Lisa" Tseng's prosecution marks the first U.S. case in which a doctor was convicted of murder for recklessly prescribing meds. While being sentenced, the doctor apologized to the families of her victims, telling them, "I cannot imagine what you have gone through." The District Attorney said Tseng's conviction "sends a strong message to individuals in the medical community who put patients at risk for their own financial gain."
