Gen. David Petraeus announced Friday that he has formed a new gun-control group for veterans with retired astronaut Mark Kelly. The Veterans Coalition for Common Sense will lobby for stronger background checks in gun purchases as a means to preventing vets—often afflicted with depression and PTSD—from committing suicide. Kelly is the husband of former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, who became a vocal proponent of gun-control efforts after she was shot in the head in 2011.
