‘Everyone Get Out of Pulse and Keep Running,’ Club Posted During Shooting

Pulse, the gay nightclub in Orlando where a gunman killed at least 50 people Sunday morning, wrote on Facebook as the gunfire erupted: “Everyone get out of pulse and keep running.” The Facebook page has since gathered stories from people who were inside the club when the gunman, identified as Omar Mateen, used an AR-15 assault rifle to also wound more than 50. “People on the dance floor and bar got down on the floor and some of us who were near the bar and back exit managed to go out through the outdoor area and just ran,” one man wrote. The page is also becoming an international memorial for those murdered, with outpourings of sympathy from across the United States and around the world.
