Hillary: I Won’t ‘Declare War’ on Islam After Orlando Shooting
WAR OF WORDS
Responding to Donald Trump’s call for her to leave the 2016 presidential race if she cannot utter the words “radical Islam” in the wake of the mass shooting at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida, over the weekend, Hillary Clinton fired back by saying her actions speak louder than words.
“In my perspective, it matters what we do, not what we say,” the presumptive Democratic nominee told the Today show’s Savannah Guthrie in a phone interview Monday morning. “To me, radical jihadism, radical Islamism, I think they mean the same thing. I’m happy to say either, but that’s not the point.”
“I’m not going to demonize and demagogue and declare war on an entire religion,” she continued. “That’s just plain dangerous and it plays into ISIS’s hands.”
