The Islamic State terror group’s official mouthpiece declared Omar Mateen, the mass shooter who killed 49 people in Orlando early Sunday, “one of the soldiers of the caliphate in America.” Mateen died in an exchange of gunfire with police at Pulse gay nightclub after he attacked the venue with an assault rifle. It is considered to be the deadliest mass shooting in American history.
