Thousands of revelers gathered early Tuesday morning at the ancient ruins of Stonehenge to celebrate the longest day of the year. The annual solstice event at the 4,500-year-old stone circle, which is aligned with the movements of the sun, brought an estimated 12,000 people this year—including self-described “druids” and hippies—and as the sun rose at approximately 5:21 a.m. local time, the revelers contemplated, sang, danced, or practiced yoga.
