A California mayor hosting a camp for underprivileged children has been arrested after the FBI discovered he’d been playing strip poker with the kids. Prosecutors said Thursday that Stockton Mayor Anthony Silva had a series of incriminating audio clips, videos, and photographs on his phone, showing that he’d been hosting strip-poker games with minors at the camp. The Amador County District Attorney’s Office released a statement detailing the accusations against Silva, saying that one audio clip “contains audio of a conversation between participants involved in a strip-poker game that occurred in Silva’s bedroom. The conversation between the participants indicated that they were naked. One of the participants was a 16-year-old male. The audio of the surreptitious recording clearly indicates that the participants did not want to be recorded.” During the course of an FBI investigation, witnesses told investigators Silva supplied alcohol to the minors, many of whom were camp counselors. Silva has been charged with felony recording of confidential communications, several counts of furnishing alcohol to a minor, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and child endangerment. Silva has denied the charges.
