According to a coastguard spokesman, more than 90 migrants are believed to be missing after a boat sank off the western coast of Libya on Wednesday. Ayoub Qassem, a spokesman for the Libyan navy, said that some 29 migrants had been rescued off a shore near Tripoli but 126 people had been left on a rubber boat before it began to take in water when the sides ripped. "Because of overcrowding one of the sides of the boat got torn and water leaked in," he said. "Ninety-seven illegal migrants are still missing or they have drowned."
