A Texas school district has been ordered to restore a Christmas decoration that was previously removed because it features a Biblical verse. Officials in the Killeen school district north of Austin had the “Charlie Brown Christmas” decoration taken down over fears it would violate prohibitions on religion at school, ordering a nurse’s aide, Dedra Shannon, to take it down. But Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton sued to have it put back up, citing a 2013 law banning schools from censoring “biblical references to Christmas.” On Thursday, a judge agreed with Paxton and ruled that the decoration should be restored, with an additional line on it to read, “Ms. Shannon’s Christmas message.”
