Four people were killed Monday when severe storms hit Alabama. Gov. Robert Bentley wrote on social media that the deaths occurred in Rehobeth in Houston County, where the National Weather Service had issued a tornado warning earlier in the day. Buildings were also reportedly damaged in the area. Mississippi was also reportedly hit by tornadoes, and the National Weather Service warned that several states in the region should brace for possible twisters. “All severe hazards will be possible including damaging winds and tornadoes, especially across portions of southeast Louisiana and central and southern Mississippi through southern Alabama and the western Florida Panhandle,” the NWS said. Authorities in Mississippi reported power outages for about 20,000 people but no widespread damage during the storm. Power lines were knocked down in Texas and Louisiana, leaving thousands without electricity.
