The gaffe over the Best Picture award-winner wasn't the only error at the Oscars on Sunday night. During the In Memoriam segment, a photo of a living woman was mistakenly featured. Australian costume designer Janet Patterson, who was nominated for four Oscars before passing away in October 2015, was supposed to be honored during the broadcast. While her name and job appeared correctly on screen, a photo of Jan Chapman—a living Australian film producer—was accidentally paired with the information. “I was devastated by the use of my image in place of my great friend and long-time collaborator Janet Patterson,” Chapman told Variety. “I had urged her agency to check any photograph which might be used and understand that they were told that the Academy had it covered. Janet was a great beauty and four-time Oscar nominee and it is very disappointing that the error was not picked up. I am alive and well and an active producer.”
