Nineteen girls were killed in a fire at a home for abused teens in Guatemala, according to reports. Following an overnight melee in the the Virgen de Asunción home for children in San José Pinula, police confirmed that at least 38 others were injured. “This is a painful situation,” said Nery Ramos, the head of the country's national police. He said the fire was likely started by a group of young people at the home. Riot police were sent in hours before the fire to handle the unrest caused by overcrowding. Five hundred children were living in the home, which had a capacity of 400.
