Chelsea Manning is reportedly facing indefinite solitary confinement after prison officials found a copy of Caitlyn Jenner’s Vanity Fair cover, which they deemed contraband, and an expired tube of toothpaste in her cell. The transgender ex-Army intelligence analyst is five years into a 35-year sentence for leaking classified military documents to WikiLeaks. Manning is scheduled for an Aug. 18 hearing to review charges of disrespect, disorderly conduct, prohibited property, and medicine misuse. ACLU lawyer Chase Strangio told BuzzFeed News the charges were trumped-up allegations. “Here Chelsea is at risk of losing various support networks simply because she had an expired tube of toothpaste, the Vanity Fair magazine that featured Caitlyn Jenner, and requested a lawyer when she felt she was being accused of misconduct,” he said.
