University of Chicago Professor Richard Thaler has been awarded the 2017 Nobel Prize in economics, the academy committee announced Monday. The $1.1 million prize was given to Thaler for his work as a pioneer in behavioral economics, incorporating psychological information into his analyses. The New Jersey native is a career academic who made a cameo appearance in the movie The Big Short.
