New Jersey has a new senator. Gov. Chris Christie named the state’s attorney general, Jeffrey Chiesa, interim senator, filling the seat vacated after the passing Monday of Democrat Frank Lautenberg. Chiesa will serve in the Senate until a special election is held October 16, and begins his new job Monday. He will not be in the running for the special election.
