Chihuahua Produces Milk for Kittens

Becomes their “mother.”

Orphaned kittens brought to a home in Park City, Utah, weren’t interested in formula food—they wanted puppy milk. (Um, gross.) Brandi Pearson, who is taking care of the kittens until they are old enough to give up for adoption, bought tiny bottles and formula to feed the three-week-old kittens, but it was the seven-year-old Chihuahua that the kittens wanted. And it didn’t take long before the puppy began producing milk and nursing them. “I’ve never seen anything like it,” Pearson said. “I think she just knows they’re orphaned kittens, and they need a home.”
