The Connecticut woman who was nearly mauled to death by a neighbor's chimpanzee has a new face after doctors completed the third full face transplant ever performed in the U.S. Charla Nash was helping retrieve her neighbor's pet chimp Travis when the 200-pound animal ripped off her nose, lips, eyelids, and hands before being shot to death by police. The team at Brigham's Women's Hospital in Boston gave Nash skin, underlying muscles, blood vessels, nerves, a hard palate, and teeth donated from an unknown dead person. She also received hand transplants, which were later removed due to complications.
