China arrested its most famous artist, Ai Weiwei, Sunday and he hasn’t been heard from since. His wife was originally detained as well, but she has since been released. Police also raided Ai’s home and studio and confiscated dozens of items. "There is no news of him so far," his wife says. Ai is an outspoken critic of the government, but many believed his international profile would protect him. He created last year’s Sunflower Seeds exhibit at the Tate Modern.
