No good meme goes unpunished. A large home that had become a new symbol of Chinese resistance to the government has been demolished. The five-story house, which was owned by a duck farmer and his wife, is the subject of a photo circulated widely on the Internet, showing the building standing alone in the middle of a freeway. The owners had refused to let authorities bulldoze it, citing unfair compensation. However, they apparently changed their minds after an offer of 260,000 yuan (more than $41,000), and Facebook users will have to move on.
