China Has More Submarines Than U.S.

China now has more submarines than the U.S. and is sending them farther out for longer deployments, a top Navy admiral told the House Armed Services Committee on Wednesday. “We know they are out experimenting and looking at operating and clearly want to be in this world of advanced submarines,” said Vice Admiral Joseph Mulloy, the deputy chief of naval operations for capabilities and resources. Mulloy’s comments underscore growing concern over China’s military buildup and the U.S. effort to maintain a technological advantage.
