As publishers try to figure out how to profit from books online, they might look to China, where one Web site, Shanda Literature, has 25 million readers. The site is so successful its business model has been studied by Time Magazine, Media Bistro reports. Shanda Literature makes $15 million a year and has cornered the e-book market with 90 percent of online readership. Apparently Chinese audiences have no problem reading a whole book on a glowing screen. It's a safe assumption that Amazon is looking to get its Kindle in on the action.
