Xi Jinping can talk the talk, but can he walk the walk? In a speech Sunday, China’s president announced his new plan to become an agent for peace—not only in his own country but neighboring ones as well. Speaking to a prestigious group of international leaders, which included IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde and Burmese President Thein Sein, he expressed the crucial nature of concord in Asia. “Without peace, there is no need to talk about development,” he said. China remains under tight scrutiny as one of the last voices that North Korea, who continues to threaten nuclear warfare against the U.S, will listen to.
