Turns out someone from New Jersey doesn’t need Bruce Springsteen to bring down the house. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie rallied Republicans Tuesday night in his keynote speech at the convention in Tampa, while Ann Romney tried to garner women’s votes. “Our ideas are right for Americans, and their ideas have failed Americans,” Christie told the cheering crowd. But the rousing speech did little to quell rumors that Christie is laying the groundwork for his own political future: according to Rachel Maddow, Christie didn’t mention Mitt Romney until about halfway through the speech. But Republicans had Ann Romney for that, as she promised voters her husband “will not fail.” Romney gave a warm-hearted speech that told the story of their romance and marriage—and she attempted to win over women’s votes by declaring “I love you, women!”
